AVOCADO FRUIT – WHY IS IT A »MUST HAVE« FOR PALEO RECIPES?
Did you know that avocado is actually a fruit? Strange, but its true. Most fruits contain lots of carbohydrates, but avocado fruit is different. It is packed full of fats – but hey, don`t let the fats scare you too much, as long as these fats are the healthy ones. I will get to the specifics in a moment, so keep reading.
AVOCADO FRUIT – FULL OF HEALTY FATS
Avocado contains great amount of fats. But don`t worry, these are OK! So, 100g of avocado have around 14.7 grams of fat, of which 9.8 grams are monounsaturated, 1.8 grams are polyunsaturated (0.1g omega-3 and 1.7g of omega-6) and 2.1 grams are saturated. These saturated and monounsaturated fats are easily digestible and burned for fuel to boost your energy!
And don`t forget – avocado does not contain cholesterol. Especially relevant, research has shown that avocado consumption could actually help you optimize cholesterol levels!
AVOCADO FRUIT IS A GREAT SOURCE OF FIBERS
Dietary fibers are crucial for sustaining our healthy gut flora. These small bugs in our intestines need their fibers as they digest them to sustain themselves. 100 g of avocado contains 6.7 grams of fiber. That represents roughly 18% of daily fiber requirements. If you eat an avocado a day, thats a great boost to your fiber intake!
AVOCADO FRUIT IS HIGH IN POTASSIUM
100 grams of avocado contains around 485mg of potassium. That is not as concentrated as we find it in carrot jouce, which for comparison contains roughly 777mg per 100g. Still, regular consumtion of avocado can help you balance your potassium to sodium ratio. Also, avocados provide almost 20 other health-boosting minerals nad vitamis. So, try one!
THE EASIEST WAY TO USE AVOCADO FRUIT
The easiest way is to put it in your salad. This way you can enjoy it with leafy green vegetables to boost your fiber and nutrient intake even more. Try it. Put a pinch of himalayan salt on top of it to make it truly delicious.
